MEG, CoE and ASC chalk up wins

Madikeri: MEG defeated Central Excise 4-2 in the first match of the super division hockey league matches played here on Thursday.

Vivek Ramakrishna put the Excise men ahead scoring off a penalty corner in the second minute but Sagayan restored parity in the next minute with a field goal. Sagayan scored again in the 12th minute through a penalty corner while Monnappa (58th) and Keshavan (61st) added to the tally. Vivek scored again for the Central Excise in the 67th minute of the game.

In the second match, Centre of Excellence defeated Army Green 2-1, with Shankar Patil (18th) and Darshan (42nd) scoring off penalty corners. Ajay reduced the margin for the losers in the 48th minute.

In the last match of the day, HAL tasted its first defeat going down 0-2 to ASC. Lakra put ASC ahead in the 50th minute while Rawa completed the tally in the 57th minute of the game.
