MEG scores over HAL

Madikeri: MEG scored a 4-3 victory over HAL on Sunday in the Super Division Hockey League matches being played here.

Ganesh Kumar opened the account for MEG in the sixth minute scoring off a penalty corner. Rajesh equalised for the HAL in the 22nd minute of play but MEG hit back with goals from Rajesh (31st), Poovanna (penalty corner-33rd). Poovanna again sounded the boards converting a penalty corner in the 64th minute. Other goal scorers for the HAL were, Ponnanna (59th) and Rajesh (60th) getting his second goal, both goals coming through penalty corners.

Army Green blanked a lowly placed Central Excise 3-0 in the second match of the day with Romesh (31st), Suresh (32nd) and Sairaj scoring for the winners.

In the last match of the day, Centre of Excellence defeated ASC by 2-1 margin. Manoj Kumar scored a brace. He got the first goal for the CoE in the ninth minute off a penalty corner. ASC equalised in the 48th minute of the game through Deepu, who converted a penalty corner, but CoE came back with another penalty corner goal in the 65th minute of the game from Manoj Kumar.
