Slick win for Indian Oil
Captain Deepak Thakur scored three goals (24th, 51st, 69th) and Prabhjot Singh struck a brace (31st, 58th) as Indian Oil routed Central Railway 10-0 in a Pool ‘B’ match of the ONGC Nehru hockey tournament at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on Friday.
Gurjinder Singh (2nd), Dharamvir Singh (13th), Ramandeep Singh (34th), Bharat (45th), Didar Singh (63rd) were the other scorers for Indian Oil.
Punjab and Sind Bank (PSB) defeated Bharat Petroleum 2-1 in a Pool ‘A’ encounter. Ranjodh Singh (16th) and Vikramjit Singh (49th) converted short corners for PSB. Bharat Petroleum’s Gagandeep Singh (65th) reduced the margin through a penalty corner.
PNB runs riot
In a qualifying match, Punjab National Bank (PNB) XI outplayed Northern Railway 6-1 to make the cut. Arjun (27th, 45th), Jatinder (8th), Damandeep Singh (20th), Ranjit Singh (25th) and Lakhwinder Singh (59th) hit the target for the winning team. Prem Kumar (43rd) was the lone scorer for the Railway side.
