TCE takes title

MADURAI: Host Thiagarajar College of Engineering defeated Sethu Institute of Technology 2-1 to win the title in the Thiru. Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar Memorial State-level inter-engineering colleges’ hockey tournament here on Wednesday.

Karumuttu T. Kannan, Chairman and Correspondent of the host college, gave away the prizes.

The results: Final: Thiagarajar CE 2 (Suresh Rajan, Vinoth Kumar Moulin) bt Sethu IT 1 (Veeradeepan). Third place: Adhiyaman CE 3 (Mohan, Sivanathan, Vasanthakumar) bt Kongu EC 0. Semifinals: Thiagarajar CE bt Kongu EC 4-3, via tie-breaker (fulltime 0-0); Sethu IT 2 (Ramkarthik, Sudhakar) bt Adhiyaman CE 1 (Vasanthakumar).

DMCET in last eight

Dr. Mahalingam CET won a penalty shootout 4-2 against Syed Ammal EC to book a place in the quarterfinals of the RVS Trophy State-level inter-engineering colleges’ football tournament in Dindigul on Wednesday. The teams were locked 0-0 at the end of regulation time.
