Women’s hockey team for overseas matches to be selected after trials
Bhopal: A two-day selection trial for picking up players for women’s hockey team for test matches in Canada, New Zealand and Germany, began today at the Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) Regional Centre here, officials said.
Hockey India (HI) president Vidya Stokes, former Indian Women’s Hockey team skipper Madhu Yadav, Seeta Mehta and SAI’s regional director RK Naidu, among others were present during the trial which will continue tomorrow, officials said.
The players’ fitness was put to test by the selectors during the trial, they said adding that 32 women took part in the exercise on the day one.
