While the International Hockey Federation (FIH) continues to insist that the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) supported World Hockey Series happens to be an unsanctioned event, a senior member of the international body has joined the franchise-based league. Peter Von Reth, a member FIH’s rules board, also happens to have a similar role with WSH.

When contacted, FIH communications manager Jenny Wiedeke said WSH remains an unsanctioned event. “The FIH would not like anyone to be associated with WSH,” she told from Lausanne.

Reth said he saw nothing wrong in the whole deal. “There is not much to say about that. I am not affiliated with the FIH other than my representation on behalf of the KNHB (the Dutch national association) in a committee and (if appointed) acting as Umpires Manager at tournaments,” he said in an e-mail, making it amply clear that he remains a part of the FIH.
