NEW DELHI: To get ready for the Test matches in Valencia, Spain and FIH World League Round 2, India women hockey team has started its preparatory camp at the National Stadium.
The camp for the 24-member women’s team started yesterday and will go on till February 9.
The team will take on 14th-ranked Spain in Valencia from February 10 to 24. The Test matches are expected to provide opportunities to the players to improve their skills and implement their strategies in the upcoming FIH World League Round 2, scheduled to be held here from March 7 to 15 March.
Speaking on the sidelines of the camp, Director High Performance, Roelant Oltmans said, “The camp will be a good learning experience for the team and I am sure through this, the girls will be better prepared for the Spain tour.
“Post their bronze in the Incheon Asian Games 2014, the entire team looks confident and ready to take on newer and bigger challenges. Spain is just a rank below us in the FIH ranking and we are expecting a good competition from them. We will look at the camp giving us the perfect team for the upcoming FIH World League Round 2,” he added.
