FIH reasserts Hockey India’s supremacy
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has once again emphasised that Hockey India ‘is the sole and exclusive national governing body’ recognised by the FIH for India, and no team or player can participate in events organised by any other body, including the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF).
Thus, the national associations are required not to participate in unsanctioned events; prohibit teams/players under its jurisdiction from participating in unsanctioned events and not to permit an athlete from other national association to participate in an event that it organises or sanctions unless he/she has first obtained a No Objection Certificate from his home national association in such an event.
The new regulations are in line with the FIH strategic plan and the focus is on event management as the FIH.
