The Tribune: Waveriders go top of table with UP win
Delhi Waveriders defeated Uttar Pradesh Wizards 3-1 to move to the top of the points table in the Hockey India League here today.
Both the teams found it difficult to create enough scoring opportunities in the first half. After a barren opening half, the Waveriders finally broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute when Rupinder Pal Singh converted the team’s first penalty corner.
Sreven Edwards (59th) then scored a field goal in the penultimate minute to extend the Waveriders lead to 3-0. UP Wizards pulled one back in the final minute with a powerful penalty corner conversion by Argentine Gonzalo Peillat.
The Waveriders have moved to the top with 10 points from two games. UP are second with seven points.
