NAGPUR: DSA Central Railway edged out City Police 7-6 in sudden death to enter the final of the Gafoor Bhai Memorial Hockey tournament at the VHA ground here on Saturday.

The score was 1-1 at the end of regulation period. After a barren first session, the railmen broke the deadlock when Izhar Hussain put them ahead on the pass of Shamsher Khan in the 39th minute.

In the 45th minute, City Police restored the parity through Friday’s hero Amit Yesur.

In the tie-breaker too both the teams converted three chances each, maintaining the deadlock. Railmen Kashil Ahmad, Rashid Ali and Jahangir Khan converted their chances, while for City Police, Tushar, Gomet Patil and Ganesh Gupta found the target.

In the sudden death, Jahangir Khan scored the winning goal for the Central Railway as City Police’s Yesur missed his opportunity. Mujahid Khan was declared man-of-the-match.
