Felicitation for Indian hockey team on Tuesday
NEW DELHI: Hockey India will felicitate the Indian team on Tuesday for winning the inaugural Asian Champions Trophy in China on Sunday.
India won the title after scoring a thrilling 4-2 win over arch-rivals Pakistan through penalty shootout.
Custodian PR Sreejesh turned out to be hero for India as he made two crucial saves during the shootout. He had also blocked five penalty corners in the regulation time.
“It’s big moment for Indian hockey. We are very happy and we will say ‘Thank you’ to our players in a dinner-cum-felicitation on September 13,” Hockey India secretary general Narinder Batra said.
The team will return from China on Monday. Hockey India is waiting for a confirmation from sports minister Ajay Maken, who has been invited on the occasion.
The women hockey team, which finished fourth, will also be present.
