HYDERABAD: The hockey associations in the state merged into one, creating Hockey Andhra Pradesh and elected senior IPS officer V Dinesh Reddy as its
President.
Hyderabad Hockey Association, Andhra Hockey Association and Andhra Pradesh Women’s Hockey Association were the three bodies that merged into one entity.
The merger was brought about on the directive of Hockey India and Indian Olympic Association which has mandated to have a single association to run the game in the state, Reddy told reporters on Sunday.
In accordance with the new policy, a single entity would function at the district level as well.
All the clubs functioning at various levels and locations should join hands with the new entity to collectively strive for the betterment of the game, Reddy added.
