Mumbai hockey body moves HC against HI
MUMBAI: Peeved with Hockey India (HI) after it was denied affiliation, the Mumbai Hockey Association (MHA) has moved the Bombay High Court against the national body of the game.
Admitting the petition the division bench of Justices D K Deshmukh and A R Joshi on Thursday asked MHA to serve a notice to HI, which has to file a reply as to why it denied affiliation to the state body.
“MHA was the founder member of IHF (Indian Hockey Federation). According to the central government’s 2001 guidelines, the newly formed Hockey India must grant us affiliation,” MHA lawyer, advocate Vijendra Jabra said.
He alleged that another hockey body from the state, the Maharashtra Hockey Association, “is likely to get HI’s affiliation soon”.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for January 25
