Pakistan name 18 member squad for series against Netherlands

LAHORE: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) selection committee on Tuesday announced an 18-member squad for two match test series against Netherlands to be played in Doha on January 20 and 21.

The national selectors have picked up a new face in Muhammad Tauseeq and recalled goalkeeper Nasir Ahmed and Abbas Haider for the event, seen as part of their preparations for the forthcoming World Cup in India next month.

Pakistan had qualified for the World Cup after winning a qualifying tournament in France in October last.

The announced players are Nasir Ahmad, Zeeshan Ashraf, Sohail Abbas, Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Irfan, Waseem Ahmad, Muhammad Rashid, Sajjad Anwar, Muhammad Tauseeq, Rehan Butt, Shakeel Abbasi, Abdul Haseem Khan, Muhammad Zubair, Akhtar Ali, Waqas Sharif, Muhammad Rizwan, Omer Bhutta and Abbas Haider.
