Petition in Delhi HC for effective administration of Hockey India
NEW DELHI: A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court seeking a direction to the ministry of sports and youth affairs and Hockey India to frame guidelines to ensure effective administration and promotion of the national game.
The petition, filed by journalist S M Asif and his daughter Lubna Asif, alleged hockey has suffered on account of “internal squabbles” among the administrators.
The plea, which may come up for hearing after summer vacation of the court, seeks an inquiry and action against erring officials of Hockey India who are responsible for “dismal state” of affairs.
It also seeks removal of Narinder Batra from the post of secretary general of Hockey India on the ground that he is also holding the post of treasurer in the Delhi & District Cricket Association.
The petitioner has also sought formulation of a policy that one person should not hold more than one post in a sports body.
