BHOPAL: The selection trials for the Asia Cup-bound India’s under-18 boy’s hockey team has re-started at the Regional Centre of the Sports Authority
of India (SAI) here after the first selection camp was cancelled due to overage problems.
“The final selection trials re-started on Saturday and will continue till this evening,” India’s junior hockey team chief coach AK Bansal said on Sunday.
He said the process was being done under the supervision of the newly-formed six member selection panel.
The selectors will handpick 30 players including 10 reserves after which a 50-day camp will be set up for the team before it leaves for the Asia Cup in Myanmar from November 14 to 22.
The first selection trial of the under-18 team was cancelled earlier this month after 48 players out of the 53 picked up for the camp were found overage when they were put through digital bone x-ray tests.
