KOLKATA: South Central Railway thrashed Eastern Railway Sports Association 9-1 in their quarter-final league encounter of the 114th All-India Beighton Cup hockey tournament at the SAI artificial turf on Wednesday.
In another encounter, Calcutta Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) blanked Southern Railway 2-0 with goals from Ganendra Tigga (35th) and Edmon Kerketta (52nd).
South Central Railway drew first blood through Innoncent Kullu who converted a penalty corner in the sixth minute. Janardan Gupta (15th and 63rd), Mayan James (21st and 52nd) and Pravakar Singh (29th and 32nd) scored two each in their goal glut against ERSA.
Amit Sribash (16th) and Chengeppa (41st) scored the remaining two goals for South Central Railway, while ERSA reduced the margin through Petrus Ekka in the 25th minute.
