NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has increased its security cover at both the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, where the hockey matches are taking place, and the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, which has been drawing droves of spectators including VIPs like Rahul Gandhi who was spotted there on Saturday.

Police said that even though most stadiums have been empty till now, the India- Pakistan hockey match at Dhyan Chand National Stadium on Sunday is set to witness a high-voltage clash and hence all tickets have already been sold out.

”Add to it the fact that several important ministers, embassy officials and top bureaucrats including those from the Union cabinet along with their kin have expressed their interest to come to the stadium to enjoy the game. We are trying to ensure that we have maximum security for the game,” said a senior police venue commander.

Police, meanwhile, said that general traffic has been stopped from entering all the sidelanes.
