Division B men’s final today

Division B finals of both Men and Junior girls will be played respectively at Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) and Mysore (Karnataka) today

New outfit Gangpur-Odisha will have to overcome surprise element Maharashtra in the final of the Senior Men’s National Championship (Division B)underway in Lucknow, to make their own glory, today.

Yesterday, in the first semifinal Gangpur-Odisha defeated Namdhari XI 2-0 to enter the final whereas Maharashtra won Mumbai 2-1.

This year the national championship format has been changed from monolithic to double leg to avoid mostly one-sided match which were bane of the event for long. The Division B therefore had teams that fared poorly in the last year championship, around 20.

This leg comes to its logical end today with the semifinals have been played out. Semis and finals have not much significance as being the toppers of each pool, these teams have already made it to Division A.

Semifinal Results:

Semifinal 1: Gangpur-Odisha 2 William Xalxo (42nd min) and Ashish Anmol Minz (59th min) defeat Namdhari XI 0

Semifinal 2: Maharashtra 2 Navneet Swarnkar (1st and 46th min) beat Mumbai 1 Amit Goswami (40th min).

Meanwhile the finals of the Division B of the Junior Girls Nationals will also be held in Mysore after semifinals played out yesterday.
