VIJAYAWADA: Sports Authority of India (Hyderabad) defeated Rural Development Trust outfit 4-2 in the final of the second Fr. Vincent Ferrer invitational hockey tournament that concluded at RDT Stadium at Anantapur, according to information reaching here on Thursday. Earlier, SAI (Hyd) outplayed SAAP (Tirupati) 2-0 to enter the final.

Superintendent of Police M. K. Singh gave away the prizes and RDT’s associate programme director Moncho Ferrer was the guest of honour.

State hockey at Gudur

VIJAYAWADA: The 25th senior Andhra State hockey championship for men will be held at Gudur (Nellore District) from August 29 to September 1 in which 12 teams will take part, according Andhra Hockey Association secretary M. Niranjan Reddy here on Thursday.

The tournament is jointly organised by Nellore District Hockey Association and Gudur Hockey Club. The State team for the Nationals will be selected on the concluding day.
