The site will not be updated on Feb 1 and 2. The entire stick2hockey.com team will be in Kanpur on these two days. However, ‘What newspapers say today’ section will be updated.
On Monday and Tuesday, the city of Kanpur will be celebrating what is now designated ‘FEEL HOCKEY ON BABU’S DAY’ celebrations.
We in the Hockey Citizen Group, which runs One Thousand Hockey Legs, will be celebrating with around 200 children the ‘Feel Hockey On Babu’s Day’.
It is often said, and it is not without reasons, the present generation does not connect with the past glory of Indian hockey. May be or may not, we don’t know exactly.
What we are going to do now is — it is infact an experiment — and see for ourselves whether the present generation connects with the past or not.
This for our learning process, and also to at least let the children know of the past and then see their liking instead of parroting the refrain, the Gen Next does not connect … etc.
All the boys and girls teams of 8 schools enlisted to One Thousand Hockey Legs will assemble at Greenpark Stadium verdue on these two days. They will be imparted basic hockey initiation, friendly lectures on Babu and on hockey in general, quiz and writing competitions are proposed to be held four hours each day.
Defintely, there will be a plenty of six-a-side matches
So, we are off for two days and an opportunity to foregt HI tantrums!
