Why not a system to select coaches?

Why not a system to select coaches?

Share

This site always advocates putting in place systems to run hockey sport. The recent episode of men’s chief coach once again stresses the need for systems.

Now imagine. If the Ad-hoc Committee had a system on selection of coaches, this mess could have been avoided.

What the system I am talking about?

This is as follows:

A vacancy for coach has risen. Then advertise. Let the interested people come and apply. Use all technical brains at your disposal to screen six to seven people for each vacant post. Interview them one by one. Select a person or persons who is most eligible, best equipped and within your finance. Let the selected person gives you a willingness. Then sign a contract spelling out all terms and conditions. The last step is to announce.

This is the system we all follow even if a peon post falls vacant. But in the 60 years, we don’t even give respect to national coach that even a peon post commands in other spheres of administration.

But, I am sure no IHF in future or Adhoc Committee will ever put up a system. Because, people want to please people, take credit for themselves etc etc. In essence, people are not bothered about procesess but only in personalities and personal whim and fancy.
