Germany down Indian Eves in a hard fought encounter
29th February, 2016, Stellenbosch: The second encounter between India and Germany at Stellenbosch ended in a hard fought loss for the Indian eves by a score line of 2-3.
The first period started with the Indian Team looking to make up for the loss in the previous encounter against Germany. India started on an attacking note and was soon awarded by a penalty corner conversion by Sunita Lakra in the first quarter of the match. The first quarter ended with India leading by 1-0.
The second quarter started with Germany looking to make a comeback. Lisa Marie Schutze from Germany immediately took over and secured a field goal bring the score to an even 1-1. The Indian Team also fought back playing a counter attacking game and in the end moments of the second quarter the goal came from the stick of Anuradha Devi Thokchom to put India in the lead by 2-1. Germany came back strongly through Hannah Kruger who converted the penalty corner and once again brought the scores to equilibrium. The first half of the match ended at the score of 2-2.
The third quarter witnessed no goals from either of the teams as both the defences were on top and the quarter ended on a score of 2-2.
The fourth quarter witnesses a stark change in the game as both the teams moved into complete attack mode and played a very pressing game. Hannah Kruger in the dying moments of the match became the hero for Germany by converting her second penalty corner of the match to give Germany an exciting win by 3-2.
The next match of the South African tour will be played between India and Scotland on 1st March 2016.
