I may be late, but only of late I had a chance to read and enjoy ‘World Cup Hockey `98’.
The 128-page volume is an album of eye-catching images of author-cum-lensman Jeroen van Bergen, who strayed into hockey following his girl friend’s passion for the sport. But that was long back in his school days and since than he has come a long way to carve a niche for himself in the hockey world as a leading photographer.
The book is the ‘Official World Cup Hockey 1998 Photo Book.’ This unique colourful publication was produced during the biggest sports event organized in the Netherlands since the 1928 Olympics, that is, the Utrecht World Cup for both men and women.
He has also shot this year’s both World Cups.
The book starts with an appreciative foreword by the then FIH president Juan Angel Calzado.
The very first action photo in the book goes to a flying Katrina Powell, which proves the instant photographic ability of Jeroen. Thereafter a variety of action pictures enliven the world cup.
This book will be a good addition to every hockey lover’s library.
