Young Singapore collapses into Indian Cave
India outclasses the hosts
Aided by four goals from the captain Diwakar Ram, India outclasses Singapore 10-0 in their first match of the 9th Junior World Cup.
It was a perfect start for the team that aims high in the championship.
Diwakar Ram converted four of the ten penalty corners India got, while centre-forward Pramod Kumar added three goals. Mandeep Antil (29th min) and Dharam Veer Singh (26th min) and Vivek (8th min) were the other scorers.
Diwarkar scored in the 15th, 18th, 29th and 66th minutes
Pramod Kumar’s goals came in 5th, 51st and 55th minutes
Singapore is very young team with as many as 11 players below 18 years. It was gathered many senior players who could have played this world cup opted not to play and concentrate on other pursuits.
Abdul Razak Silas is just 15, having born on 16th June 1993. He is perhaps the babe of the world cup here.
This was telling on the game.
All that Malaysian-trained Singapore could do was to earn a lone penalty corner in the whole of 70 minutes.
India will meet New Zealand tomorrow 17.00 hrs
New Zeland had a rest day today after defeating Poland in the opening day.
Note: As per the official match sheet Diwakar’s tally is four goals only
