Alyson Annan, born on June 12, 1973, has two Olympic and as many World Cup gold medals in her showcase.
These top podium finishes with the Hockeyroos came at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 1994 Dublin and 1998 Utrecht World Cups.
She was voted 2000 FIH Player of the Year, a reward for her skill as a midfielder and outstanding scoring which brought her 166 goals from 228 international matches.
After winning her second Olympic gold in 2000, Annan moved to the Netherlands where she played for HC Klein Zwitserland.
She retired from the game in 2003 and took to coaching, eventually guiding the Dutch women’s national squad to a string of successes.
Not surprisingly, Annan has been voted FIH Coach of the Year three times – for 2017, 2018 and 2019.
