Jasjeet Kaur Handa is second player after Surinder Kaur to win the national acclaim of Arjuna from the Shahbad town, made known to hockey world as the provenance of women hockey. She was given Arjuna in 2010 before the all important Asian Games. Jasjeet came into the national limelight after top-scoring many domestic junior events. Considered as an opportunistic striker, the inside-forward has been living upto her reputation in the international circuit also. She posted the golden goal against Japan in the 2004 Asia Cup in Delhi. It was the maiden win for India in the Asia Cup annals Well built and athletic, she can easily dodge even the best of defenders. She is also a good drag flicker and stroke converter. Therefore, she played matching winning role in her entire career. She is from Shahbad, Haryana,having been spotted and nurtured by Dronacharya coach Baldev Singh. She scored seven goals in the 2009 Asia Cup where India beat Korea in the semi-finals and thus qualified for the 2010 World Cup.
