One of the longest survived women hockey stars of India, Ritu Rani has recently completed her 200th international match during the Hockey World League Round 2 in New Delhi in March 2015.

Ritu has come a long way from a a rural hamlet to a leading women hockey star of our times, that too as an all rounder of Sardara Singh mould.

Ritu was the Queen on Friday, the 24th Feb 2012 when India defeated Italy 1-0 with her goal, to reach the Delhi Olympic Qualifier final, though her magic was of little use next day in the Olympic Qualifier final.

Ritu, an untiring inside forward turned centre-half, posted the best goal of the Azerbaijan Series that was staged before the OQ Delhi.

Haryana State's Shahbad town is a well known nursery of Indian women hockey. Ritu, a great opportunistic forward Indian women team has now, is from that stable. She scored a hat-trick at Kazan in the Champions Challenge II on 22nd June 2009.

A student of Shahbad based Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sr. Higher Sec.School, Ritu Rani was the babe of the 2006 Madrid Women's World Cup team. She is touted as one of the best sharp shooters in the contemporary Indian scene. She obtained her junior colours in the Gifu 4-Nation, 2006.

Ritu led India in many Junior and A assignments including Junior Asia Cup (Silver) and led India to Olympics during the HWL Semifinal (2015).

She is the most capped Indian women hockey player. She is presently working with the Income-Tax after serving the Indian Railways for many years.
