Born on 25th Feb 1992, Sushila Chanu Pokrambham hails from the tiny state of Manipur. She led India at the 2013 Monchengladbach Junior World Cup (Bronze) and Rio Olympic (2016). She is employed with the Indian Railways

Sushila was part of all the most senior tournaments that India played from 2011 to till dates, barring injury and recovery spells. She won the Asia Cup gold in 2017 and Asian Champions Trophy Silver in 2018.

Since made her senior international debut in 2002, Sushila has played Olympic (2016); missed World Cup (2018); Asian Games (2014); Asia Cup (2013 & 2017); Hockey World League Round 3  (2013 & 2015); Commonwealth Games (2014 & 2018); and Junior World Cup (2013).

She was part of the crack team that won the USA in the Olympic Qualifying Series in Bhubaneswar in late 2019.

Sushila's angles reached the semis of the Monchengladbach Jr World Cup, a first time semis in any FIH tournament for our girls. They beat New Zealand and Russia in the league, Spain in the quarters Sushila was part of all the senior tournaments that India played in the last three years.

Saturday, the 25th February was the young sensation Sushila Chanu's birth day. India played the Delhi Olympic Qualifier final on that day.

Sushila Chanu is another talent to descend from Manipur. The defender cum midfielder is catching eyes with her unlimited energy and enthusiasm on the field.
