John-John Dohmen’s profound influence in the Belgium midfield spans a massive 395 international matches.
In his long career, he has led the Red Lions to an Olympic silver medal at Rio 2016 and was a member of the epoch-making squad to wrest its first ever World Cup title at Bhubaneswar 2018.
Dohmen, voted 2016 FIH Player of the Year, however, had to withdraw from the squad midway through the World Cup because of a respiratory ailment which needed hospitalization.
Dohmen, born on January 24, 1988, happily made a full recovery and was in the squad to sustain their history making spree.
The Red Lions went better than their silver medal achievements at Boom 2013 and Amstelveen 2017 by winning their first ever EuroHockey Championship title at Antwerp 2019.
His club career covers allegiance to Royal Leopold, Uccle, where he first wielded a stick as a four-year old. He also served Waterloo Ducks and Oree.
