ROURKElA: (15th December); Samabal pur University will be organizing the All India Inter zonal-Inter university hockey (Men) tournament at Rourkela (Orissa) from 18th to 23rd December. Sambalpur University with the help of Municipal College, Rourkela will hold this prestigious tournament at the Biju Patnaik hockey stadium.

Mr.S.S.Mohanty, Principal Municipal college told this to the media in a press conference held at the college premises today. Mr.Mohanty informed that 16 top universities of all the 4 zones would be participating in it.

The matches would be played on the league cum knock out basis. All the 16 teams have been divided into 4 groups and one top team from each group will reach to the semifinals.

From 18th to 21st December everyday 6 matches will be played. Both semifinal matches will be played on 22nd December and final on 23rd December. Mr.S.K.Sarangi, Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela will inaugurate the tournament as the chief guest on 18th December. Mr.Mohanty said the fixture for the tournament will be drawn on 17th December in the presence of the managers of all the participating universities.

West Zone: 1) Mumbai University, Mumbai 2) L.N.I.P.E. –Gwalior 3) Rajasthan University, Jaipur 4) Jabalpur University

South Zone: 1) Bangalore University, Bangalore 2) Madras University, Chennai, 3) Annamalai University (Tamil Nadu), 4) Bharti Dashan University (Tamil Nadu)

North Zone: 1) Kurukhetra University, (Haryana) 2) Gurunanak Dev University, Amritsar, 3) Chandigarh University, 4) Jammu University, Jammu.
