New Delhi: August 27, 2004: In an interview to national telecaster Doordarshan Sports channel, KPS Gill, president of the Indian Hockey Federation, said that he failed to motivate Indian coaches and as such will stick to foreign coaches. ” India will have only foreign coaches hereafter”, he said.

However it is not clear that it meant continuation of current incumbent Gerehard Rach. He also lamented that Indian players are indulging in individual game and play for gallery and the team spirit it missing.

“People so far branded me as dictator though I was not. Hereafter I will become so. Then only discipline can be maintained. My focus in the coming days will be discipline, nothing less”, he thundered.

However, it is to be noted that under the wisdom and guidance of of KPS Gill India played two World Cups and three Olympic events, all with record low performance. If mere words can bring medals, this gentleman deserves it.
