IHF in a hurry, Ministry wants clarity

Never known to follow rules and regulations, the KPS Gill led Indian Hockey Federation is again on rule breaking spree. It is now playing truant with the government of India.

Somehow the IHF announced election on Sunday, the 3rd October, the day Delhi will witness the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games. Probably, the IHF thought the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, which nowadays is particular about National Federations following set of guidelines, will be busy and won’t pay attention to the proposed election of the IHF.

It is not so.

In the last two days, it has written two letters explaining exactly which aspect of the guidelines the IHF failed to meet.

It appears the IHF wants to go by the old practice of members of electoral college assembling in one place then go for filing nominations, election on the spot etc.

The Ministry is dead against this, and it has again made it clear such steps are not acceptable to it.

However, the Ministry also doubts the merger process of IWHF and IHF. Ministry through its letter has asked the IHF to provide necessary documents and certificates from the Register of Societies. Obviously, the process, even if it is complete, must be incomplete or mid way through.

In the ongoing letter wars, the Ministry is on a strong foot. It has been asking the IHF to do what it has asking other National Federations to do so.

It seems the IHF does not learn any lessons despite being sidelined for almost two years since dissolved in 2008.

The Hockey India sources reveal the list of members who will attend the Oct 3 election. IF that is true, the list has lot of surprises. Most of those in the SHA are not in the electoral college. The list is highly suspicious, certainly the IHF is hushing up things. It is not going to stand in good stead for them in case the matter would again go to court.

There is lot of manipulatin in the list favouritism playing a big role.

All those vested interests like Katare are back, Pargat name figures in Patiala!!

The other player in the list, V. Baskaran, is a not a voting member.
