Indian women hockey team’s chief coach MK Kaushik is in a upbeat mood nowadays, with the news trickling in that Richard Charlesworth is likely to visit and stay with the women’s camp for about ten days. Charlesworth will be in Lucknow, where the camp is going on last one month, from tomorrow.

Kaushik is in Delhi, his hometown, to renew his leave application with the Sports Department, Haryana Government. He had to leave the camp all of a sudden due to this unexpected bureaucractic wrangle, which, thanks to alert media, has hogged the limelight today.

Speaking to s2h, Kaushik expressed happiness that the services of Charlesworth would be available to him at this crucial juncture. “I personally feel his expertise and experience is far far better than anybody in India, if not in the world. I have been constantly in touch with him, and requesting him to come to the camp and offer his tips. I am happy he has positively responded. I also feel Joaquim Carvalho should have utilized his services when India was preparing for such event as Qualifier.

Joaquim has been under fire for not availing the services of Charlesworth, the fire of criticism he could not douse till now.

That Ric is renowned coach, having proved his credentials in the women’s domain, will be offering much needed technical support to Kaushik is a welcome thing. Kaushik’s open arm welcome to such genius coach as Ric, without bothering about personal ego, speaks the difference between winning and losing minds.
