MP Hockey blanks Hockey Himachal 15-0

Saifai (Uttar Pradesh), 27 April 2015: With the finest strategies and field plans, the teams continued their winning run on the second day of the 5th Senior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) ‘’A’’ Division today at Saifai, Uttar Pradesh.


The day started with interesting clashes between Railway Sports Promotion Board and Hockey Maharashtra where the former thumped the latter with a 12-0 on the scoreboard. The second match saw Hockey Odisha defeating Delhi Hockey 8-0 followed by another exciting clash where Hockey Haryana blanked Sports Authority of India 11-0. And in the last match of the day, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy trounced Hockey Himachal 15-0.


In the match between Railway Sports Promotion Board and Hockey Maharashtra it was the former which dominated and won the match 12-0. Anupa Barla for Railway Sports Promotion Board was seen into action in the very first minute as she scored through a brilliant field goal. Keeping the momentum of attacks going, Railway Sports Promotion Board in the 15th minute had another shot at the goal and this time it was Navjot Kaur who did no mistake in finding the nets and taking her team’s score to 2-0. Before the end of first half the team added two more goals in the 29th and 30th minute and half time scores read 4-0 in favor of Railway Sports Promotion Board. Second half saw Railway Sports Promotion Board increasing the momentum of attack as they convincingly added seven more goals before the end of game. 40th minute and the team added their 6th goal as Manmeet Kaur capitalized on a penalty corner. The next minute, Railway Sports Promotion Board had another shot at the penalty corner and this time Navjot Kaur took it upon herself to do the needful for the team. Another two quick field goals were scored in the 43rd and 46th minute from the sticks of Lilima Minz and Sunita Lakra and taking the score to 9-0. Railway Sports Promotion Board was successful in scoring three more goals before the game was declared 12-0 in their favor.


In another match between Hockey Odisha and Delhi Hockey, the former won the match 8-0 leaving the opponents stunned. Both the teams started the game with good attack, looking at the initial goal. Finally in the 12th minute Hockey Odisha managed to break the shackles of the opponents to register the first goal of the match. The team doubled the account in the 15th minute as Majhi Nilprojita scored through a field effort. Four minutes later the team got a penalty corner in their name and Jira Ekka ensured that she hit past the goalkeeper and took the score to 3-0. Right before the end of first half, Hockey Odisha got another go at the penalty corner and Ambika Toppo stood tall to convert and the first half scores read 4-0. Not wasting any time in the second half, 32nd minute and goal No. 5 was score by Captain Biragini Ekka, helping her team to a very strong position. Hockey Odisha almost on the verge of winning the game scored three more goals in the 42nd, 46th and 53rd minute to register an 8-0 win over Delhi Hockey.
Hockey Haryana showcasing great hockey skills convincingly beat Sports Authority of India 11-0. It was Jyoti Gupta’s brilliant performance of five individual goals which ensured Hockey Haryana of a huge win. Just two minutes into the game Devika Sen started the proceedings through her field goal. This was followed by Jyoti Gupta’s two consecutive field goals in the 5th and 18th minute which took the score to 3-0 in her team’s favor. Just two minutes left for the first half to end when Jyoti added the fourth goal for Hockey Haryana, ensuring that Hockey Haryana was placed in a very strong position. Right into the second half Hockey Haryana scored three consecutive goals in the 32nd, 36th and 38th minute coming from the sticks of Jyoti Gupta, Joydeep Kaur and Kiran respectively. Leading the game 7-0, Hockey Haryana scored four more goals before registering the win at 11-0.


The last match of the day witnessed a remarkable win for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy over Hockey Himachal with a huge margin of 15-0. The entire match was dominated by Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy who scored eleven goals in the first half and did not allow the opponents to open their score card. In support of Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy Shivani Singh scored four goals in the 4th, 13th, 27th and 30th minute. While Priyanka Wankhede scored a brace in the 5th and 29th minute. Very successful in breaching the defence of Hockey Himachal, Reena Khokhar added three more goals to the team’s tally in the 8th, 9th and 46th minute. Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy’s Shyma Tidgam successfully converted a penalty corner in the 10th minute with the support of Ramngaihuuali R who scored three more goals for her team in the 16th, 21st and 56th minute. Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy did not stop here and added two more goals to finish with a tally of 15 goals and winning the match over Hockey Himachal 15-0.
