Gurwinder Singh Chandi:
We were mistrapping in the first half but in the second half we built upon that and because of that we won. We were supposed to play one-touch, which was not there in the first half, and when we corrected it in the next half, we got this desired result.

Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh:
Whatever I saved were lucky saves. Yes, I was angry in the last minute, when we were easily giving room for Pakistan forwards, but these things do happen at the last minute, no issues with that.

Chinglensana Singh:(on the goal he scored goal) Everyone was working hard and playing well. Senior players are helping and encouraging the juniors quite a lot.

Captain Sardar Singh: Everyone, apart from me, played extremely well. We availed the chances we created, and got the result. We knew Pakistan will go for a draw in their last game. I wish to thank each and every player in the defense, they blocked a flurry of attacks, and did their task very well, especially PR Sreejesh, VR Raghunath and Rupinderpal Singh, these players deserve a pat from em. They got the victory for us.

VR Raghunath: As a defender it’s our duty to defend the team and give life to the team. We just did that. on asked about on-field communication, he said: We don’t want the boys go numb in pressure situations, so we keep talking, telling them what they are doing well, and we keep pushing them to the corner, especially with young guys in the team.
A lot of Indians were there to support us today, hope to see them in the next two matches too.

Michael Nobbs:
A lot of individual brilliant performances. Birendra Lakra is getting good at pulling out blinders. Everyone put forward their 100%. The crowd paid to see exactly that. They got their money’s worth double. It was an absolute, classical Ind-Pak match. We are gonna go to win each game. It doesn’t matter who meet in the finals but Pakistan, I feel, are the favorites. It will be a classic match again. I would like to play Pakistan again. They are moving up the world ranks.
More we play higher ranked teams, the better we are going to get. Malaysia too is a good team, they are improving vastly. Chinglensana has improved since we have changed his pattern and style of play. All the players are improving with each game they play.
Pakistan is the same team as they were in Melbourne. They are playing the same way. Going a goal down, they were dangerous as anything, we would also play the same way when we will be one goal down. There are no secrets about any players about each other, each one is known to other. It’s a matter of question who plays better on a given day.
I rate 6 or 7 to the team on a scale of 10. There are a lot of areas to improve upon. We made some silly mistakes. our general patterns were not like they way we would like them to be but we are working at it. We are the finals that was our first goal. so, we are happy at this stage.

Pakistatn Coach Akhtar Rasool:
It was a very good, dynamic, up and down match.
There were many attacks from both sides. My team was lucky. They got more chances, they missed many sitters but on the midfield they were better than the Indians. Excellent hockey has been played by both countries, I personally feel India-Pak must play each other more often. There should be a 10-match hockey series — 5 in India, 5 in Pakistan — it is the only way to beat the Europeans. If we play with each other, we will be back as powerfuls in the world hockey.
I hope we meet again in the finals.
