ROURKELA: The All India Inter Zone-Inter University Hockey tournament began here at the Biju Patnaik Hockey stadium today

In inaugural match of group A host Sambalpur University (Orissa) beat Annamalai University 6-2

For Sambalpur Amulya Minz opened the account in 8th minute off a penalty corner. Irshad Mirza scored 3 goals for them in 17th, 37th and 40th minute.

Anand Kumar (21st minute) and Amulya Beck (35th minute) scored other 2 goals off penealty corners.

For Annamali Ashwin B. (25th minute) and Murugnandan (45th minute) scored.

Akram Khan and Jayant Kerketta were the umpires.

In group D Gurunanak Dev University (Amritsar) beat Bangalore University 5-2.

Gagandeep Singh (3rd, 41st minute), Jashanpreet Singh (7th and 47th minute) and Harveer Singh (50th Minute ) were scorers for GNDU while Naimuddin (21st minute) and Madappa M.K. (55th minute) scored for Bangalore.

Bijay Lakra and Amulya Behera were the umpires.

In another match of group D VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur routed Rajasthan University (Jaipur) by 12-0 goals.

Imran khan scored 4 goals (23rd, 38th, 49th, 60th) for the Purvanchal. Rahul Shilpakar scored 2 goals in 14th and 18th minutes.

Triveni Prsad also accounted for 2 goals in 34th and 51st minute.

K.S.kulojeet (20th), Prashant Singh (23rd minute), Abhishek Singh (36th minute) and S.Ahmed (59th minute) scored one goal each.
