The Hindu: Improving on our penalty corner conversions, defence: Manpreet

The Indian men’s hockey team will play a total of six games during the New Zealand tour, scheduled from October 2 to 11.

Getting ready for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, India mid-fielder Manpreet Singh today said that his team is working hard on improving its penalty corner conversions and defence.

The Indian men’s hockey team will play a total of six games during the tour, scheduled from October 2 to 11. The first two games will be played against New Zealand A, while the rest of the four matches will be against the New Zealand’s national squad.

“We have prepared a lot for the upcoming New Zealand tour and we are pretty excited about the tournament. The coach is also making us work a lot harder during our preparations, helping to improve on penalty corner conversions and our defence,” said Manpreet.

He said although it will be a challenge to face New Zealand in their own backyard, the team is confident of producing good results.

“We are working on rectifying our mistakes as we would not want repeat the same mistakes in the upcoming tournament.

Playing in the opponent’s home ground, New Zealand will be a tough challenge for us but we are confident of a positive result,” Manpreet said.

India will take on New Zealand A in their opening match in Auckland on October 2.
