On the 2nd day of the tournament, 6 matches were played at the Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium.

In Group A, host Sambalpur University defeated Mumbai University 6-1. Amulya Minz and Imran Khan scored 2 goals each while Irshan Mirza and Azam Beg got one each. Pranav Rane was the lone scorer for Mumbai.

In Group C, Chandigarh prevailed over Jabalpur University 3-1. Balvinder SIngh, Rupinderpal Singh & Ajmer Singh scored for the winners while Afsar scored for Jabalpur.

In another match of the same group, M.G. Kashividyapeeth, Varanasi routed Bahrti Darshan 18-1. Javed ALi scored 7 goals, Sunil Sonkar and Harikesh scored three each while Abhishek & Deepak Yadav contributed with 2 goals each.

In Group B, Kurukshetra University had to struggle to beat Ranchi by the odd goal in three. For Kurukshetra, Lakhvinder SIngh scored both the goals. Ravixes reduced the margin for Ranchi.

Madras University humiliated L.N.I.P.E.,Gwalior 7-0 in another group B match. For Madras, S. Sathyarajan and T. Vinoth scored a hat-trick each while R. Ashok Kumar scored the last one.

In Group D, Banglore Displaying splendid fighting quality drew its match against VBS Puvanchal university, Jaunpur 3-3. Till one minute before the final hooter, they were trailing 1-3, but in the last minute, they scored two splendid goals to make it 3-3. For Purvanchal, Khan scored in 20th minute, Abhishek in 28th minute and DAnish Mujtaba in 45th minute. For Banglore, Nitin scored two goals in 10th & 60th minute. Rafique scored in 59th minute.
